Greetings and welcome to POSTCARDBOOTH.COM! We are your destination for unique vintage image inspired gifts, home decor such as crate labels, vintage coasters, decorative lightswitch covers and collectible licenseplates. We got hooked on the kitschy, retro vibe of old postcards and the beauty of vintage collectible antique crate and cigar labels and wanted to share the fun . . . so we fused our collection of time honored images from bygone eras and a few original in-house images, with a high-tech, cutting edge print process known as dye-sublimation to create our line of distinctive, decorative gifts and stylish housewares.
The postcard images date from the 1930's - 1950's, an era of postcard production that used photographs which were enhanced with hand painted coloring. This color-tone process produced the iconic style of these souvenir postcards, a blend of realistic and detailed images with brilliant fantasy colors. The crate label art dates from the days when fruit and vegetables were packed in wooden crates. Since the crates couldn't be printed on, artists were commissioned to create beautiful and very detailed images to label the crates with. Cigar boxes from the 1920's and even earlier also were decorated with colorful and often intricate images rather than just the brand name. All the vibrancy and whimsy of these vintage images are reproduced in crisp full color on our products!
